SUACCC caters for all running distance from 100m to Marathon, and everything in between, whether this is on the track, road or cross country. The club also covers throws, jumps and pole vault.
At any other time in the year if you want to try the club and see what it’s all about, then the best option is to email us at email@example.com and then come along and give it a go. You can then sign up if you enjoy it and want to be a part of the team!
Please refer to the Training Timetable for current training times
Periodically the club will take groups on trips to have a longer run in scenic places, such as the New Forest, followed by a pub lunch.
SUACCC aims to provide training and competition for athletes of all standards, and so whether you are an elite athlete or are completely new to the sport, we will do everything we can to get you involved and make you the best you can be.
Membership for the club is only £30 for the year which remains one of the cheapest of all AU clubs. Some extra cost may apply for contributing to travel or entry to competitions, and representative kit, however it is a priority for the committee to minimise the incurred costs to the athlete and give the most opportunity for getting involved in the club experience. Membership for both SUACC & SAC is at a discounted, combined price of £60. Please see the membership tab for more details.
A full catalogue of SUACCC training and competition wear is being developed and more information will be given at a later date. The only kit that may be compulsory is a University vest (or crop top) and shorts, which are required if you are competing to represent the University in one of our competitions.
The University competes in a wide range of competitions throughout the year, all over the UK, from Parkrun every Saturday, to once-a-year BUCS Championships. These include:
We have a broad range of members from those who just want to run for fitness to serious athletes competing at BUCS, national and international levels. There is no pressure whatsoever for anyone to compete and it is not a requirement of the club- however we are happy to encourage members and do all we can to facilitate entering competitions at a suitable level for a range of abilities.
SUACCC has a strong and vibrant social calendar throughout the year ranging from meals out to fancy dress pub crawls. This helps to build the team spirit that has helped us to do so well in recent years.
SUACCC has very strong links with the coaching and training of the city team, Southampton Athletic Club. Students can pay the membership fees to SAC through us if they want to open up their competition options greatly throughout the year, and run to represent the city itself. Some of these competitions include:
